Painting & Installation

Chevy Chase Forward says bravo and thank you to the community for their inspiring participation in the Chevy Chase Rock Painting & Art Installation Project.   It was wonderful to see everyone’s excitement about being part of this joint activity.  Created during the events of Art All Night and Chevy Chase Day, neighbors sat down to paint, laugh and converse.  This uplifting experience produced 363 individually painted rocks that are now installed on the grounds of the Chevy Chase DC Public Library, under the Heritage Oak tree facing Connecticut Ave.  The rocks form a beautiful spiral around the tree, in the shape of a long “bookworm”, named by one of our artists, and chosen by the community, Rocky Balboa.   We thank Interim Library Director Fatima Batista for her enthusiasm and for contributing additional rocks painted by children.  The “rock bookworm” project  is ongoing, so please share in this initiative by bringing your own painted rock creations from home, school, etc. whenever you like. You might also just want to sit under the tree! Thank you to the following artists, to name a few:
